Marilyn this is our story of the past experience we had with that sick puppy you wanted me to email you so you could put it on your website. Hope it helps others make good decisions! Feel free to shorten it if needed.

This is the story of our bad experience we had when we purchased a puppy without being better educated on what to look out for when buying a puppy...
We have a special needs daughter, Allie, who loves the companionship of dogs. A few months ago our family pet of almost 12 years past away. This was devastating to all of us but had a big impact on Allie who thrived from having our dog Hannah around. So we waited a week or so and decided we needed to look for another puppy. I searched for a Miniature Schnauzer because they tend to be great dogs for children and they have wonderful temperaments. I didn't have much experience to know what I needed to beware of when searching. I am an honest person and I expect everyone else is the same way...think again! We learned this the hard way. So for days I surfed the internet looking for a Miniature Schnauzer close to our home. I found the perfect puppy, so I thought, just an hour and a half away. There were pictures posted on this breeders website to pick from. I called the breeder and told her which puppy we wanted and she said it would be 8 weeks old in a few days so we set up our time to pick it up. Our little pup would be named Kimber. So we get to the breeders house and see a sight we should have ran from. We are lead to a building that is next to the breeders home. All I see is puppies galore lined in cages stuffed full wall to wall. There was no air just two small windows propped open. The lady hands us our puppy, by the way she was only 1.8 pounds and seemed to only be 4-5 weeks old, we hand over the money and away we go. Upon leaving I notice our puppy kimber has drainage coming from one eye. As the days go by Kimber seems not too active and very sickly. She wouldn't eat and didn't seem to know how. Around day 5 of bringing her home she begins coughing and within two days went into labored breathing and lifeless. We took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with pneumonia and a possible neurological problem. Over the next week we had to give her a pharmacy of meds, breathing treatments, force feedings every two hours, and constant care around the clock. She was even hospitalized for two days in a oxygen tent. During this time we had our vet contact the breeder to let them know what was going on but the breeder said they couldn't do anything and to take the puppy home to die. I cryed! Kimber was our baby even though we had only had her a short while. In the end all efforts failed and our sweet Kimber passed away. Two weeks of having Kimber and $1,000.00 spent, we now are left with no puppy and a gigantic vet bill. Poor Allie is devastated again. She has now lost two dogs within a month. With her lack of ability to understand what is going on she was lost. So we start looking again but much more cautious. We talked to our vet which recommended Marilyn at Dragonward Schnauzers.  I called her and go through an extensive interview process which was totally different from our other experience, which in the end is worth every minute of it! We went to her home and sat on her kitchen floor with our three girls while she picked out several puppies which would possibly fit our family. They ran around, our kids played with them, and I sat back and watched. One thing I learned from Marilyn is the right puppy will often pick you. Sure enough as I watched there was one puppy that kept coming back to us. He laid in the floor wagging his tail looking at us. We knew he was ours. He is now part of our family. We named him Remi. Allie is so happy. They have personalities that match perfect. Fun, rowdy, but so loving. This has to be the best experience I have ever had while purchasing a puppy. I hope this helps educate people in knowing what to look for and what to avoid when you are looking for a new furry friend. Our Remi is hopefully going to become a service dog for Allie soon. We so so proud to call him ours! Good luck in your journey to find the perfect puppy for your family.
